In 2001, following her graduation from Brock University, Kristine Marchese, an aspiring artist, began a production company called Do Your Thing Productions (DYT).  The company started creating sketch comedy shows, theatre productions, lots of screenwriting. All of that still continues today, however DYT has grown to house many different divisions.  In 2004, DYT's talented bunch created workshops to tour around schools, pretty soon improv and theatre workshops were finding their way to schools all over the GTA.  In 2007, as school workshops continued, Kristine Marchese began another division of DYT, The Performance Studio.  Students were coming in droves, classes were being taught by industry professionals, and parents were elated by the confidence and respect that was being instilled in their children. Over the years we have watched the students perform at the Brampton Art Fair, our rock vocal group, Rock Candy, opened for band OZONE BABY, our improv/sketch troupe, The Hooligans, hosted the Rose Theatre's Centre Stage Gala and won Toronto's "Sketch-com-aggedon" sketch comedy festival and over 25 students aquired talent agents with the help of DYT Productions Performance Studio.  We have lots to be proud of at DYT.

The Performance Studio, and DYT in general have grown over the last 4 years.....students have grown both in the classroom, and they have grown in age, marking our 3rd year to say goodbye to our graduates.  DYT now houses a studio, in-school workshops and artist development(DYT creative artists management) departments, and continues to create new pieces of Canadian Theatre.
We are a family, a large and yet quirky family at times, but a family none the less.  Our students leave DYT with a clear understanding of this business, should they choose that as their future endeavors. More importantly they leave with respect for themselves, respect for others, a postitive outlook, confidence and without fear to express themselves.  And we are darn proud that.  DYT students understand how to conduct themselves as professionals, and we couldn't be happier.

DYT is 10 years old, but for our Performance Studio, it marks our 5th anniversary season.  We hope for many more years to come at DYT, and we hope for many more years at the Performance Studio with our very talented bunch of students.  Please join us as we celebrate 10 years of DYT Productions and 5 years of DYT Productions Performance Studio!  Come be a part of our family!

DYT staff and educators have a firm belief in making every student shine in their own  right, and have very strong opinions regarding bullying and finding respect for  ourselves and others.  The art of creating improvisation is built around several  guidelines; respect, positive thinking, unity, and listening.  DYT takes these guided rules very seriously and does their best to impart this way of thinking  to their students.

DYT's staff are working professionals in the entertainment industry, and provide students with current and up to date training in this ever changing industry.  DYT instructors are Canadian comedy award winners and nominee's, Dora Mavor Moore nominee's, television writers and actors, and feature film producers and actors.  To see more info on what our talented staff have been up to, please click the individual link on each instructor.

Check out what our parents have to say about DYT!

"I LOVE coming here! I have so much fun; laughing and singing and dancing. It feels like home". Faith age 9

"I took the On Camera course. It made me feel more self assured and confident, specially at school when doing presentations." Amber age 16

"I've been hanging around DYT Productions for 2 and a half years now, every week without delay, and I can't say I've ever been anywhere like this. The people are just so darn....friendly, funny, charming, but still with that air of...professionalism, and ability to teach you. The kids you meet are all slightly crazy like you and share your interests. The reason I love coming to DYT every week is because there really is no place like home." Sabrina Age 14

My son Luke has been part of DYT for over a year and we as a family, Luke primarily, have enjoyed the experiences and opportunities provided. The format and methodology DYT uses in supporting the talented group of children is second to none. The coaching and mentorship provided has helped my son Luke grow in his overall capabilities. It has made him a better performer and entertainer. There is not a production/talent group anywhere in my experience that provides the same opportunity to better their craft. Marco and Kristine and so many of the other teachers/coaches are very talented in their own right and them sharing that knowledge and support to our kids has been tremendous. Thank you DYT group for your professionalism, support and expertise!

My daughter enjoys coming to DYT. She has fun and is treated with respect; like family! As a parent I appreciate the fact that we are welcomed at the studio. I particularly appreciate the fact that Kristine does not try to sell me every program available for my child or that my child is fabulous and will be a "superstar" if only she took class "a" and "b" and put together a package, etc. . DYT focuses on the child and the fun of being a child.

My name is Sarah. I am six years old. I take a Drama class every Wednesday. I’ve been taking this class since I was two
years old. I really enjoy going. I have two teachers, Annie and Kristine. Kristine has been my teacher since I was two years old. Kristine is also the EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, of DYT PRODUCTIONS PERFORMANCE STUDIO. At the beginning of every Drama class we warm up our
bodies by doing butterflies with our knees and jumping jacks. We also play games to help us with our eye contact such as; a game where you have to catch the clap, if you’re not paying attention you’ll miss it. Some of the reasons I love drama class are because I love to act, sing and dance, and Drama class is the perfect place to do all 3 of these things. I wish I could have Drama class every day.

DYT Productions has been an incredible program for my daughter. Kristine is amazing, she has made a huge difference in the progress of my daughters confidence on stage and self esteem these past few months. I am truly amazed at how she does not hesitate to audition for parts and how much she enjoyed improv classes. She has such a positive attitude now in general with anything that comes her way and I believe that DYT Productions is to thank for some of these changes I’ve seen in her. She has learned so much in such a short time. I feel that we are very fortunate to have such experienced and talented actors teaching in Brampton. Kristine is always available to answer any questions, responds to my emails promptly, offers advice and extra coaching if needed. Thank you Kristine for all the time and care and effort you dedicate to DYT Productions, you have made a difference in our lives.

I have to say, that, there is no one like Kristine and there is no place like DYT. As a parent of a 17 year old it is incredibly amazing that there is a place that can capture his attention and keep it. For my son, DYT has opened doors in terms of performance opportunities and technical opportunities. Kristine has given him a great deal of guidance and encouragement to pursue all of his many areas of interest. As an owner and instructor of DYT, Kristine goes above and beyond the ‘call of duty’. She finds great venues for performances and has these kids working with very talented people. Each person that the kids meet opens a door for them. It is left up to them, in their futures, if they choose to walk through that door. It is very exciting for these young children and young teens, to be so connected and to have such talented instructors and directors. Great place, great atmosphere, and great people!

My daughter was fortunate enough to participate in one of DYT Performance Studio's first improv classes, the summer of 2007. Since then she has been involved in Improv, Vocal Performance Training and most recently "DYT Rockstars". I can't believe all of the positive gains my child has made in such a short time. Having been involved in musical theatre and vocal lessons since the age of 7 at another Brampton Studio, I thought she had a good base for the performing arts, It wasn't until she took classes at DYT that I realized that all performing arts studios are not the same. The biggest difference is having industry professionals teaching the classes. Not only are they well educated in their skills but they have the first hand performing experiences to pass down to the students. I have seen this incredible transformation in my daughter that I never thought would happen. Her confidence on stage and her ability to captivate an audience has grown immensely in such a short time. This year my daughter had her first major audition and thanks to the support that she got from Kristine, Enzo and the other DYT staff members, she was able to put her past experiences behind her and got through the audition process with flying colours. The performance opportunities are endless and the vast knowledge of the DYT instructors has brought the Toronto/ New York experience here to the City of Brampton.

Kristine and her wonderful, talented, teaching professionals have been one of the best additions in my children's life. Truly enjoying their classes, they are in an environment that has made them shine, while discovering talent, fun, and true friendships. The ability to perform in theater's like The Rose and places like the famous Hugh's room has been wonderful. As a parent, I truly appreciate the constant truthful guidance I have received. Nothing is more satisfying than hearing your child express happiness and gratitude for being able to be part of this talented organization housed in a beautiful part of old Brampton.

DYT Performance Studio is the best thing to hit Brampton for kids with dreams of performing. Kids can foster their performing abilities under Kristine Marchese and her talented staff member’s experience and direction in the wonderful and historical Peel Heritage Complex. The great direction from skilled and talented performers in a safe and nurturing atmosphere helped mold my daughter’s comedic and singing talent and ability. The opportunity of performing in professional venues such as The Rose Theatre, Lorraine Kimsa Theatre, PHC Courthouse, Diesel Playhouse, Hugh’s Room and Second City has built my daughter’s confidence, poise and professionalism. This is something that she will possess throughout her life’s endeavors in whatever profession she chooses. Thank you Kristine for making DYT a great place for my daughter to have fun, learn and grow.

I would like to say thanks to all of the instructors at DYT for the wonderful job they did with my kids last year. From On film classes with Marco, Rockstars with you and Enzo and of course the Hooligans and their show at Second City. Regardless of what these kids do in the future I believe that these experiences will serve them well. It was such a pleasure to watch their confidence and ability improve as the year went on. I doubt many kids their age have experienced so many different and challenging venues and come through with flying colours. I can't wait to see what you have planned for this year. Again, thanks to you all.
