DYT Creative Management
In 2009, DYT became a creativity manager for several students currently working in the entertainment industry. These young actor's are signed to a current agency who is actively searching for work for their clients. DYT's purpose is to manage the actor's scheduling, classes, audition coaching, and oversee their creative choices and direction working in direct relation with the actors talent agency. DYT is currently not accepting new clients.

As a performance studio that has so many industry professionals working as instructors, we field numerous inquiries regarding Agents and Creative Management. DYT is not an agent, nor do we represent or commit to finding actors work. DYT is a performance training studio that helps guide young actors and artists towards a working career in the entertainment industry. We do however provide knowledge and information to parents and students regarding reputable agencies, and how DYT can aid in the pursuit of a reputable agency.
There are many unethical individuals in this business and it is up to parents/actors to make themselves knowledgeable about how business is conducted in this industry. There are several websites and organizations that individuals can go to to read up on what a youth actor's rights are, what does a reputable agency look like, and how to go about getting an agent. Please check out the links below, and become knowledgeable about the business that your child is entering into. |

These are just a few sites to get you started. If you are looking for an agent, one can check out the agents list on the Actra Toronto Website where you will find several reputable agencies that are affiliated with TAMAC (Talent Agents and Managers Association of Canada) and EIC (Entertainment Industry Coalition). An agency that is not affiliated with at least one of these two should be one to keep a close eye on. Also, please take a look at the NO CHEQUE LIST that Actra provides as it lists talent agencies that are not in good standing with Actra. These are agents to be aware of. NO REPUTABLE AGENCY WILL EVER ASK YOU TO PAY THEM MONEY UP FRONT!!!! SO DON'T! If an agency is small, they may ask for a $75-$100 admin fee, which is acceptable. However if an agency asks you to pay anything above that, or if they ask you to use THEIR photographer, or they tell you to take THEIR classes....RUN! Run far away from them. They are only after your money! Also, it is good to know what the difference is between a background agent and a talent agent. A background agent will only ever get you extra work. If you would like to be considered for work that is substantial and that has merit, you need to find yourself an agent that deals with Principal casting in commercials, film and television. |
BUT WHAT IF I HEAR AN AD ON THE RADIO? Run even faster. No casting director or agent looks for the next "Hannah Montana" at a shopping mall. In this business if you want the work,
you have to work to get it. Any agent or casting director that is advertising on the radio, I guarantee will only want to sell you on classes that they offer, and classes that are over priced
and will cost you WAAAYYY too much money. FYI - any class that your young performer or older performer wants to take should run you in the ball park of $250 - $500 for a 6-10 week program. And at that, I might be aiming high. Please run from these people that say they will make you the next child star....they are scam artists....if you want to be an actor, it requires work, ethics, talent, and lots of perseverance. It will not just fall in your lap, being an actor is work....sorry to burst that "rich and famous" celebrity bubble, but it is....
There is a lot to know when you are getting set to make the jump into the professional world of entertainment. Please read up and be prepared.
In an effort to continue to inform our parents and students, we have developed this page. We at DYT DO NOT want our parents and students taken advantage of, so please if you have any questions, call us or email us at dytps@dytproductions.com
