DYT offers a wide variety of classes and workshops for students and adults.  All of our classes are taught by industry professionals currently working in the entertainment industry.

The Hooligans, The Thugs, plus a *NEW* Improv Class!
DYT is now in it’s 4th season of creating killer comedy!  In September 2010, we will be holding auditions for our two improv/sketch comedy troupes!  September 9th will be our audition night!  If you would like an audition time please email Director/Producer Kristine Marchese at dytps@dytproductions.com .  Our advanced improv troupe, The Hooligans, have performed 7 sketch comedy revues at such places as The Rose Theatre, The Comedy Bar Toronto, and The Second City Toronto.  Our intermediete troupe, The Thugs, have also performed at the above theatres as well as doing their first sketch revue November 2010 at the acclaimed John Candy Box Theatre.  Our improvisors work with some of Toronto’s finest……Marco Timpano (Canadian Comedy Award Winner 2009), Amanda Barker (Second City) and Kristine Marchese ( Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding, Comedy Network).  We will also be presenting our new improv class, the improv workout for those wanting to exercise their improv muscles!  These classes are great for confidence building, teamwork, and listening skills.

Have you ever wanted to write your own comedic scene, scribe your own one act play, or create the next Oscar nominated motion picture? Then DYT has the class for you! Students will spend the year learning scriptwriting technique, format and creating amazing scenes, monologues and completing a one act play. If you have a bunch of crazy story ideas in your head, come on down and learn how to put them on paper and create an imaginative masterpiece with actor/writer/director Kristine Marchese.

*Scriptwriting Heaven, Ages 10 - 18 Private lesson times TBD,  $210 per semester

In 2008, DYT created several directors out of their students. This new and diverse program allows students to experience what it is like to direct scenes, an assortment of scripts, casting, production design and vision for your script. Student's work towards directing their own one act plays in June 2010. Students are encouraged to shine as we help to develop the next Scorcese or Coppola! Instructor Kristine Marchese, director of the hit drama "A Complex Verdict" will help students find their directing style, enhance technique, and learn how to create a directors ultimate vision.

For the first time ever DYT presents a class for those student’s who would like to learn what the producers role is in show business!  Student’s will learn poster and program design, how to write a press release, and other arts administrative duties.   This is a full year commitment and those student’s who are enrolled will be in charge of the production management of DYT’s One Act Play Festival, “To Be Original”.  This is not a class you want to miss!

DYT is proud to launch the new vocal program with instructors Kristine Marchese & Rhiannon Deline.   Student’s will be guided through vocal warm ups, technical vocal training, song selection, and song preparation. Students and parents can choose from a one hour lesson or a half hour lesson, to take place on a weekly basis for 10 weeks. Each of our vocal students will work towards preparation of a song for our end of semester cabaret style productions. Our goal is to work with your child to help them gain confidence and training in both vocal and performance.   

*Vocal and Performance, Private Lessons TBD,  $285 – 30 min lesson, $450 – 60 min lesson

DYT provides private piano lessons in either a 30 or 60 minute time slots.  Student’s are taught theory, structure and performance and will be prepped to play a song at our end of semester performance. 

*PIANO LESSONS, LESSON TIMES TBD, $250 – 30 min lessons, $450 – 60 min lessons


DYT is going to do what it does best...music and theatre....and blend them together into one powerfully theatrical class, DYTee Ensemble. Student's will take a look at classic rock, new rock, and power dance tunes (Lady GAGA anyone?), add a few dance moves and create out of this world theatrical pieces of theatre, paying tribute to the hit tv series that inspired the class....GLEE. So if you are a GLEE fan, or a GAGA fan, or just love to sing and dance....this my friends is the place for you! DYTee Ensemble will perform at each end of semester show and will perform at the "To Be Original" DYT's Theatre Festival in May 2011.

*DYTee Ensemble Wednesdays 8pm - 9pm, $235 per semester

Through the guidance of Tom Marchese, students at any level, basic or advanced, can begin to take their guitar playing to the next level. Students are given a half hour or hour lesson for 10 weeks, at which time they stand before an adoring audience and show them all how to rock!

*Lesson Times TBD. $275 for 10 weeks, 1/2 hour a week


DYT provides top not dance instruction. Rhiannon Deline guides student’s through technique, choreography, creation and of course, the theatrical/acting part of dance. DYT does not believe in flashy costumes or lots of make up for our student’s….instead, we focus on the story that we want to tell in the dance, and the costumes will reflect the story. Join us as we get ready to tell take dance to a new level at DYT! There are three levels of dance to choose from…….

*Movers/Shakers, Tuesday Nights, 5:30 – 6:00pm, $90.00 per semester, (Ages 3 – 5)

*Young Dance Company, Tuesday Nights, 7:30 – 8:30pm, $150.00 per semester, (Ages 6 – 10)

*The Dance Crew, Tuesday Nights, 8:30 – 9:30pm, $150.00 per semester, (Ages 11 – 14)



DYT is home to two of Brampton's Best Rock Vocal Troupes, DYT Rockstars and The Rock Crew. Entrance into these programs is by audition only. To find out more about our killer vocal troupes or to get an audition time, click here.



This half hour class allows our little Al Pacino’s and little Meryl Streeps to strut their stuff and shine on stage!  The little tykes will dabble in some dance, scenes, theatre exercises and music!  Student’s will work towards a final presentation at the end of each semester.  Come join the fun!

On-Camera Workshops

DYT offers film workshops 3 times a year.  Our first film workshop will be taking place Sunday October 17th, 2010.   The 5 hour workshop will focus on voice work, allowing student’s to experience what it is like to record vocals for radio, cartoons and commercials.  Actor Tarah Consoli, from the upcoming Fox Network prime time cartoon called Crash Canyon, will be the guest instructor  for  the DYT Voice Workshop.  If you have an agent or will be looking  for one in the near future, this is a workshop you don’t want to miss!!!

For the 5th year in a row, Kristine Marchese has been coaching student’s to prepare them for their audition pieces for a Regional Arts High School. DYT provides 4 workshops, instructing students on how to score a script, find their character and develop a theatrical piece for their audition. DYT has a 94% SUCCESS RATE, and has maintained that over the last 5 years of directing student’s. Welcome to DYT’s acting class for teens.  It is a very intense acting class, which allows students to dissect the actors mind, identifying with emotion, and being creative with both comedy and drama.  Student’s will create their own acting pieces as well as working with classic scenes and monologues from theatre.  Follow Kristine Marchese as she instructs the students on how to take pride in their art and to be passionate about their creativity.
 
Master Acting Class, Thursday Nights, 6:00 – 7:00 pm, (Ages 13 – 19)


DYT brings you a new acting class for kids!  This structured course will provide student’s with hand on training in acting technique, structure, emotion building, projection and character creation.  Student’s will dabble in drama and comedy, and learn how to bring both to the stage.  Actor/Writer Kristine Marchese allows students to create their own performances pieces as well as tackle some of the best scripted theatre, the art has to offer.  Student’s in this class will present a performance piece at the end of semester shows.   If your child is looking for a new and improved acting class, then look no further, DYT has it here!

* Bright Lights! Big Actors!  Wednesday Nights, 8:00 – 9:00 pm,  $185 per semester (Ages 10 – 12)



This little ensemble of actor’s will learn to create and play with some of the greatest scripts in theatrical history. Student’s will create their own pieces of work, they will discover acting technique through several film and theatre scripts. Actor/Writer Kristine Marchese will instruct the students on how to develop their confidence, their stage presence, and social ability. DYT acting classes are one of a kind. The Young Actors Company will create three presentations throughout the year, ending each semester performing at the DYT Cabaret style productions.

*Young Actors Company, Wednesday Nights 6:00 – 7:00pm, $185 per semester, (Ages 7 – 9)


In 2009 DYT started Stand Up Comedy Lessons. Marco Timpano (2009 Canadian Comedy Award Winner) is the instructor for these private lessons, and student’s will prepare their own 5 min set to be performed at our cabaret style productions. It doesn’t matter what age you are, Marco will get each student started in finding their own comedic voice.
