THE HOOLIGANS ARE THE 2011 CHAMPIONS OF “SKETCH COM-AGGEDON”, HOSTED BY THE TORONTO SKETCH COMEDY FESTIVAL!!!

In September 2007, DYT Productions Performance Studio opened it`s doors starting one of Brampton`s most innovative theatre and music performance studio’s in Brampton.  The first item on the agenda was to find a group of teens who wanted to exercise their funny bone.  DYT’s Executive Director Kristine Marchese, a professional actor and comedienne, contacted Canadian Comedy Award Winner actor Marco Timpano to help co-direct and coach this group of teens.  As the 2011-2012 Season is being prepared, the hooligans have come a long way since their birth in 2007…to date, DYT’s Hooligans are formed of 9 strong comedians, they have performed 9 sketch and improv revues in some of Toronto’s hottest comedy spots (The Second City, The Comedy Bar), and on June 18th 2011 were crowned champions of  the Toronto Sketch Comedy’s “Sketch Com-Aggedon”!!! They beat 44 adult sketch comedy troupes over a 5 day festival.  The Hooligans went home with a  monetary prize and a guaranteed spot in the November 2011 Sketch Comedy Festival in Toronto!

  The Hooligans can be seen all over Brampton, including hosting the Centre Stage Gala Awards at The Rose Theatre, which they have done for the past 2 years!

Improv Troupe
In 2008 DYT created a intermediate improv/sketch troupe called The Thugs.  Our advanced group, The Hooligans, were beginning to take the improv and sketch world by storm and DYT wanted to make sure that we had some trained crew to move up in the years to come.  Actor/Comedienne Amanda Barker (Second City, Much Music) has been coaching The Thugs since 2008 and continues to do so in between filming commercials and made for tv movies.

The Thugs have opened up for The Hooligans several times over the last few years, performing at The Second City Toronto and The Comedy Bar, Toronto.  This group continues to enhance their comedic talents, as they take the stage at several locations in the GTA.

The Thugs rehearse Thursday Nights from 7:00 – 9:00pm, and it is a full year commitment.
The Thugs range in age from 10 to 14.
Cost of participating in The Thugs is $625.00 from September 2011 to June 2012.
