For Those About to Rock, We Salute You!
In 2007, DYT started a vocal program. It was unique and edgy, and many started to flock to what has grown to become the best vocal opportunities in Brampton. The vocal program began as an acoustic set of music, but it was not long after that Music Director Enzo Lapadula created a full band sound for the students to rock out to. What started with an acoustic guitar and a singer has now grown to full band sound, 3 killer guitar players, and vocalists who work both as a group and individually learning how to sing, perform and gel as a band. In 2009, DYT Rock stars needed a new name, the current representation just wouldn't cut it in bars. So, as of October 2009, DYT Rock stars was put to bed and ROCK CANDY became the new name for our band of rockers. In January 2010, ROCK CANDY performed at Clinton's Bar and Tavern in Toronto.

Every September DYT auditions new talent, adding to the already fantastic group, continuing to challenge students and their vocal abilities. ROCK CANDY performs everything from pop, to blues, to country and back to good ol rock n roll. Students have performed Led Zeppelin covers, Guns n' Roses Covers, and even a little Pretenders along the way.
Our shows are high quality, high energy, and will not disappoint. The band performs 5-6 times a year, and during those shows covers a broad span of music. ROCK CANDY has had the opportunity in the past to perform at the legendary Hugh's Room Toronto with DYT's Rock Festival "Crank It Up". They have also performed at The Rose Theatre, Clinton's Tavern Toronto, Mississauga Mist Theatre, LKTYP, just to name a few. ROCK CANDY goes into the recording studio 2-3 times a year to record and create a ROCK CANDY COVER CD.
The commitment to the band is to be of high priority, as the rehearsal schedule is plentiful, and the performances are often. DYT is looking for exceptional singers for this group, who understand theory, have an exceptional understanding of harmony, and students who are looking to learn the art of stage performance, and better their onstage persona.
