The Improv Workout!
DYT's improvisation workshops introduce students of all ages to the main principles and guidelines of improv. DYT advocates that the principles of improvisation can be executed not only in this particular art form, but also in everyday life, in both social situations and throughout their educational studies. Improvisation builds confidence in individuals by encouraging them to voice their opinions and ideas in a safe environment. These guidelines and rules are taught through many types of improvisation exercises. DYT's The Improv Workout has been touring schools since 2003, and has proven to be a popular and entertaining confidence builder for students of all ages.

Creating Your Environment
Marco Timpano, Improviser and Stand Up Comedian, is a master in physicalizing an environment while improvising. During Improv, actors do not use sets or props; therefore, the actors must learn to manipulate their theatre space with imagination and physicalization in order to tell a story. The students will spend 2 hours learning and perfecting this technique through improv games and scenes.

In addition, they will be taught how to protect themselves and their scene partners in a Stage Combat situation. Students will also explore ways of moving on stage that they may not have previously encountered, thus expanding their options when creating and developing characters.

Laughter Yoga for Children
New this Season!
People always say “Laughter is the best medicine.” And it is! For 7 seasons, DYT has been promoting improvisation and comedy in classrooms to help unify students, challenge their self discipline, and give them an opportunity to express their creativity in a humerous and fulfilling way. As our new season of workshops begin, we are pleased to have certified Laughter Yoga Instructor Amanda Barker on board to bring joy and harmony to schools across Ontario! Amanda’s certification comes from the originator of Laughter Yoga, Dr. Madan Kataria, and she is also a certified traditional yoga teacher with The Yoga Alliance. Laughter Yoga allows students to laugh, giggle and snort for an hour while working with tenants of Yoga in a series of hilarious postures and fun situations. Laughter Yoga is truly yoga for everyone.
It is required that all Laughter Yoga participants sign a release form prior to the start of the workshop. Teachers must provide a large area for physical work, such as a gym, as well as providing mats for all participating Laughter Yoga members.
